  • The History of Sycamore Hills, Compliments of Onyx Johnson
Plans for the Empire Center include 30 acres for 147 single-family homes and a three-acre neighborhood park. The land south of Santa Ana Avenue that wraps around Sierra Crossroads was developed into quality residential homes that compliment the area. These residential homes became the Community of Sycamore Hills.

The Community of Sycamore Hills first 10 homes built and owner occupied were on Volante Court in 2001, which was the first phase of Builders Forecast Homes. The First 150 plus coming to approximately 355 homes called the Oaks at Sycamore Hills were completed in 2003. The first 3 phases were Volante Court, Ginkgo Court and Blackwood Street. The model homes, which included 3 models with various options, were located on Blackwood Street as well. The homes varied in size from ‘1871 square feet living to ‘2511. The lot size varied from ‘7200 square feet to 19,000 square feet plus. There were two types of single story homes and one type of two story varied with living space of ‘2311 to ‘2511. All included an option of bonus room or a three-car garage or neither with a two-car garage.

The Forecast agents at office in the community were Crystal and Roger, which is a story in itself for each resident that moved into the community. The final count of homes in the community of Sycamore Hills comes to a little under 800 homes, which where from three combined building efforts over the past 5 years are The Oaks, The Willows and Almeria.

The Sycamore Hills Elementary School was added to the community and completed in 2003 with the park not being completed until fall of 2006. Sycamore Hills Park is adjacent to Sycamore Hills Elementary School. The new park has picnic areas with one 30-foot diameter picnic shelter and three picnic tables. There are two adult league basketball courts as well as two colorful children’s play structures with swings, sand pens and restroom facilities. Click here to view a larger image. The beautiful Sycamore Hills Park also displays lovely manicured islands, fully paved parking lot, rich greenbelts, paved walking paths, lanterns and evening timer lighting along with a warm friendly atmosphere.

This beautiful community shows pride of ownership practically everywhere you look. It is kept up through the Fontana City landscapers on the community areas as well as the Sycamore Hills Homeowners. The block wall feature is displayed throughout the community, which is a big plus when dealing with the Santa Ana winds. The afternoons are always blessed with an off shore breeze year around acting as the perfect natural cooler.

The community of Sycamore Hills multiple entries into the community through Underwood Street near the convenient shopping area and Santa Ana Street next to the small industry park was finished last year in 2006. This made easy access in and out of the community complete and was well received by the residents.

The Shopping Plaza called the Fontana Crossroads centerpiece is the Stater Brother Super Market suits every practical merchant need conveniently located within walking distance to best serve this as well as other local communities. The most recent additions being the completion of the Wells Fargo Bank and the Shell Gas Station.
